Svenska Nationella dräkten vs. Robe á

Wed Oct 14, 2009, 4:53 AM
Hello everyone!!
I hope you're all well! :) I'm quite busy myself but luckily it's vacation next week! So, the halloween is also quite soon this month and I'm thinking what to wear for it. Actually halloween is not very popular here in Finland but I and my friends decided to have a little halloween masquerade party in order to have a chance to wear costumes, have fun and make new acquaintances. And now I have a little problem... I don't know which dress to wear! As I said before, the vacation is next week which means time and time means... I have time to sew a costume!

First I thought to wear a white Robe á la Francaise and to be "a dead bride" from the 18th century. BUT then I had another idea... The svenska nationella dräkten ("National Swedish costumes" or something like that in English) are also very nice (I've always wanted one!) and the sort of dark/gothic colours/looks of them would be good for the halloween. Well, there is one more thing... -.- As I thought about this idea more, I understood the also Swedish costume could be made of two different colour options. So, now I'l asking your opinion? Which one you find the best???

Pictures of these dresses in case you don't know them:
Black version of the Swedish costume: [link] [link]
White version of the same: (Uh, i can't find a link to the painting I'm thinking.)
White Robe á la Francaise (I propably wouldn't make it as fancy as this): [link]

And then there is also an 18th century Christmas masquerade ball of our 18th century society coming later this year... Oh, I have so much to do!

Greetings!
